Blonde dynamo Ellen Sheeley has been a professional musician
for most of her life. She has performed all over the United States
and Canada playing various styles of music with many bands. Originally
from Los Angeles, she settled in the Rogue Valley in 1982. She
has opened concerts for The Righteous Brothers, Wilson Pickett,
Curtis Salgado, B.B. King, Dr. Hook, Lester Chambers, The Byrds,
K.K. Martin and Dr. John. Most recently, she performed in Women
Sing the Blues, a fund raiser put on last April by the Southern
Oregon Blues Society to benefit the Women's Crisis Support Team
in Grants Pass. She was the leader, arranger and lead vocalist
of the well-known Rogue Valley band, Blues X-Press, from 1994
to 2002. Ellen's biggest vocal influences include Lydia Pense,
Paul Rodgers, Janis Joplin, Gladys Knight and Bonnie Raitt. Her
rich contralto voice and dynamic stage presence captures the
attention of her audiences everywhere.
